SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS

Bipolar Life support group meetings connect people living with bipolar disorder with other people also living with the disorder.

Group members gain strength and support from each other. They learn new ways of coping through shared feelings, knowledge, information and ideas.

All of our facilitators have a form of bipolar disorder and therefore have lived experience. They understand what you are going through.

The groups are free (and so are the snacks!). There is no need to book but it is helpful to let us know you are coming, especially if it is your first time. Click on the meeting you are planning to attend and there is a registration form on the same page.

You will be made most welcome.

SUPPORT GROUP MEETING CONDUCT

Because our meetings are safe spaces, we ask members to understand and respect the conduct guidelines:

  • Don’t repeat personal information revealed in a meeting. Anything shared is to remain confidential.
  • Be courteous, listen and show respect to each other and the group facilitator.
  • Allow everyone to have their say.
  • Respect opinions that are different to yours.
  • Don’t use abusive, offensive and inappropriate language.
  • Don’t behave in a physically threatening way.
  • Exploitation of group members i.e sexually, physically, emotionally, financially or in any other way deemed inappropriate will not be tolerated.
  • The group facilitator may at times guide the conversations to keep the meeting generally focused on bipolar disorder and away from inappropriate topics.

By entering our meeting, you are agreeing to our conduct guidelines and agree to follow to them. Anyone not following the guidelines will be asked to leave.

The views expressed within the group don’t necessarily represent the views of Bipolar Life Victoria.
